Livejournal has been experiencing a lot of weird issues this week, so I'm not sure how many people will even be able to load this page. I hope things work out soon, because I don't particularly want to migrate to other parts of the interweb. Livejournal has always been my favorite blogging community, mostly because I collect icons the way some people collect stamps.

It's been three days since my last ROW 80 update!  So what's the scoop?

( Don't eat the apples. )

 

Ugh.  My AC is not working.  That is not good in the times when the days are long and the sun is hot.

 Yay!  I have been super excited to make this goal post.  Hopefully this enthusiasm will translate into progress.  

Just to be clear - this journal only exists for the purposes of tracking my progress with ROW 80.  It's not a blog, by any means.  If I get the urge, I might make a few non-ROW 80 posts, but we'll see.

Goals:

I currently have three major Works in Progress.  

WIP #1 is a novel entitled Spider and Briar.
Spider and Briar goals:
1.) Write 500 words a day.
2.) Write 5000 words a week.  This means that I will have to write a little bit more than just 500 words a day, meaning that 500 words will be the absolute minimum that I can write in a single day.  By the way, this COUNTS when I go back and delete stuff.  So if I write 5000 words in a week, but delete 2000 in edits by the end of the week, it still counts.  In order to keep things straight, I will track my word count every day.  And yes, I edit as I write.  GASP I know it breaks like every writing advice rule eveeeer but I'm just a rebel like that.  
3.) Finish the first four chapters.  I'm closing in on the first chapter right now.  And um yeah I've been writing this for months and months so that kind of sucks and maybe that editing rule has a point IDK

WIP #2 is a short story entitled Warmth, which I have been thinking about since pretty much forever but have yet to set pen to page.
Warmth goals:
1.) Write a 1000 words a week.  Once again, this counts what I have edited out.

WIP #2 is another short story entitled Jezebel Defeats the Universe.
Jezebel Defeats the Universe goals:
1.) Write a 1000 words a week.  Same editing rule applies.

...so, it looks like I will be writing 7000 words a week, if all goes well.  

That's actually quite a bit.

And I have a couple general writing goals!  I'm sure that writers doing the submissions grind are well aware that many magazines are on summer vacation right now, and not accepting.  I'm not sure if that's still true right now, but it was a couple weeks ago when I was trying to make the rounds with my story.  Insert sad face emoticon here. :(

General writing goals:
1.) Finish compiling my go-to list of magazines for which I can submit short stories.  
2.) Submit stories!

I'll probably blabber more about all my WIP later.  But this is a Goals Post, soooooo...
